I make the rounds on Sunday, trying to talk to as many of you as I can, but I can’t get to everyone. If I’ve missed you or you’d like a word, wave me over! Every single one of you are precious to me and to our shepherds. We love you.

I want to let you know about what is coming up soon at Fourth Avenue. As we grow and as we do more and more in our community and in selected overseas mission points our budget has grown – and you have met the challenge. Every time we ask, you step up.

We are now facing a new challenge: it is very important to our mission and to our community that we stay in downtown Franklin at Fourth Avenue. That will require some work on our part for our building is old and in need of a lot of maintenance and rehab so that we can be a safe, welcoming center for the Lord’s work.

We are launching a Capital Campaign with the theme: “Beyond the Building: Story by Story.” This is a place where we welcome people and where we love to hear their stories.

We will be asking several of you to share your story, how you came here, what Fourth Avenue means to you, and what your vision for this church is for the future. We will share some of those stories via print and video. “Beyond the Building: Story by Story” is an important step into that future and your involvement will have a great deal to do with our success.

Watch your mailbox for an invitation to attend the Vision Gathering. The purpose of this meeting is to share information with you and hear from you so that you are fully informed every step of the way. We are family and that is the way healthy families operate. This will be a time to restate and reaffirm our vision.

Please note that we will not be asking you for a monetary commitment at this Vision Gathering. It is too early for that! We will share, however, what a team has discovered about costs for critical and most needed repairs to our facility…and even a dream or too about what else we could do at this location to further enhance our ability to minister, serve, and love.

Fourth Avenue Church is a blessing to Franklin, Williamson County, and beyond. Let us commit to keeping this church right here where it belongs. We seek God’s will and ask that you pray for wisdom for your family and for the leadership at Fourth Avenue. When we believe God is ready to move forward from this place, we will move with Him at His speed in this place. That’s our prayer and our promise.

With great gratitude for all of you,

Patrick A. Mead
